Merge Monastery

Description

Merge Monastery is a merge game built for mobile devices using the Unity engine. Developed and released under the MassDiGi organization, the game features two central gameplay scenes to allow users to tend to their very own zen garden. In the opening scene, players can merge two similar themed seeds and objects together to unlock new objects and generate Qi. Qi can be used in the in-game shop to obtain objects to place in the garden. Players can then transfer to an empty zen garden where they can place their newly purchased objects to decorate the garden. With over 50 objects to unlock and place, you can build the zen garden of your dreams!

Development

Merge Monastery was developed under two different development teams over the course of several months. The original idea and art direction, game systems, media, and initial build were completed in Summer 2023 with MassDiGi's Summer Innovation Program. The game was then picked up in Fall 2023 by MassDiGi's Digi Studio Program (of which I was a member of) to expand upon the existing game, creating new features, fixing outstanding bugs, and releasing updates to mobile game stores.

Contribution

• Implemented 14 new 2D and 3D art assets.
• Integrated assets to work with the existing merge and garden systems.
• Improved upon and cleaned up settings, credits, and merge scene UIs.
• Improved responsiveness for merging and selling objects.
• Fixed major and minor issues with existing code.
• Rebalanced shop prices.
• Restructured folder and asset naming scheme within the Unity project.
• Created builds using Unity Cloud Build and Fastlane and deployed builds to Google Play and App Stores.
